Wyecroft Bridge Extension gets go ahead by Region of Halton

Delivering on a Promise

In 2014 I promised to make the Wyecroft Bridge extension that had been on the Town's books for over 20 years a priority.  I am proud to say that not only has it become the major priority for the Region of Halton, but it will soon be a reality.

At its Regional Council meeting on July 11, 2018, Council passed a motion to use Move Ontario 2020 Quick Win funds to build the Wyecroft extension from Bronte road over to Burloak.

The project will be funded by the Province and put into the Region's 2019 budget next January.  After that, the Region will issue a Request for Proposal, begin the detailed design and start construction by late 2019 early 2020.  By using Move Ontario funds, the bridge will be built entirely with provincial funds and not local or regional tax dollars.  The bridge has already undergone an Environmental Assessment and has design work completed.

The extension will provide a much needed connection to Burloak and the City of Burlington while simultaneously providing the infrastructure for future transit priorities along the Go-Line.  It will include cycling and pedestrian paths and help to link a corridor divided by the Bronte Creek.

This is a major victory for Halton Region and for residents who cross over the Bronte Creek on a daily basis.  I have worked tirelessly to bring this project to reality and could not be happier for both the residents in Ward 1 and across Halton.

I will keep all residents up-to-date on the project as it moves forward to the next stages.
